Easter Wine Pairings: Our Favourites and More

    Mar 24, 2021

Easter is a special time of year—one that’s focused on family gatherings, great food, and delicious wines. And while this year may be different for many reasons, that doesn’t mean you can’t responsibly enjoy an Easter meal and a relaxing glass of wine.

Knowing what food pairs up best with your favourite wines isn’t easy. It’s something we get asked about all the time.

Well—ask, and you shall receive. We put together this brief guide to help you get the best possible experience out of your Easter meal and wine. The body content of your post goes here. Glazed Ham – Woo Woo Gewurztraminer

It wouldn’t be Easter without that iconic ham. That’s why we’re recommending you pair your glazed ham with our Woo Woo Gewurztraminer.

The sweet and salty elements in the ham are the perfect match for the slightly sweet, spicy flavour profile of our Woo Woo Gewurztraminer.

    Pinot Noir

    Turkey – Pinot Noir

Turkey time is the best time. After all, who doesn’t love a good turkey dinner?

If you’re planning to eat turkey, we recommend our Pinot Noir. The soft tannins, earthy notes, and bright acidity of the Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with the classic accoutrements of a turkey dinner—think cranberry sauce and stuffing with herbs.

    Roast Chicken – Reserve Chardonnay

Chicken is often roasted with a variety of herbs, as well as perhaps some garlic, lemon, and butter.

Our Reserve Chardonnay is a fabulous pairing, as it carries a bit more weight thanks to its subtle oak influence. It also has beautiful acidity, which holds up well to the citrus/herbaceous flavours in the chicken.

    Roasted Veggies – Sauvignon Blanc

Spring veggies like asparagus and brussels sprouts are traditionally difficult foods to pair. That’s why we’re here.

We recommend our Sauvignon Blanc. It’s a great match with its complementary green and herbaceous flavour profile.

    Easter Candy – Okanagan Sweetheart

Now for a little fun! When it comes to pairing very sweet foods like chocolate eggs and candy, the rule of thumb is to have a wine that is equally as sweet and luscious as the food.

The effect is that the wine tastes less sweet, but still has lots of delicious fruit flavours. As our sweetest wine, the Okanagan Sweetheart is an ideal pairing.
