Our Winemaking

Serious About Wine. Not So Serious About Everything Else.

Behind every bottle of Dirty Laundry is a team that takes winemaking seriously — even if we don’t always take ourselves that way.

Winemaker Mason’s approach is all about balance: respecting the fruit, letting each variety show its personality and making wines that are approachable enough to enjoy any day, but interesting enough to make you come back for another glass.

And he doesn’t do it alone.

From vineyard to crush pad, cellar to bottling line, our winemaking crew is a hands-on team. Harvest means long days, early mornings, stained hands and plenty of decisions along the way. Every vintage brings something different, and our team works together to adapt, experiment and get the very best from the fruit that comes through our doors.

For Mason and the team, great wine doesn’t need to be intimidating. It should be well made, expressive and, most importantly, something you actually want to drink. After all, we’ve always believed you can make seriously good wine without being too serious about it.

Some ways we currently employ such practices include:

  • Efficient irrigation and water monitoring to avoid unnecessary water use.
  • Soil health management, including cover crops, compost and strategies that reduce erosion and improve soil structure.
  • Nutrient management, applying fertilizers according to actual vine and soil requirements.
  • Reducing energy and fuel consumption in both vineyards and wineries.
  • Waste reduction and recycling, including winery production waste and packaging.
  • Responsible packaging, because bottle weight, shipping and packaging can represent a meaningful part of wine’s environmental footprint.
  • Protecting workers and communities, because sustainability also includes social and economic responsibility.

With continuous developments in eco-friendly packaging, reduced energy consumption in our supply chain and carbon-efficient forms of transport for components, we will always continue working on increasing our sustainability practices.
