Our Story

Some wineries have a history. Dirty Laundry has a legend. Nestled in the heart of Summerland, British Columbia, Dirty Laundry Winery is one of the Okanagan’s most beloved and most colourful destinations. From its scandalous 19th-century roots to its sun-soaked patio overlooking Lake Okanagan, this is a place where history, humour, and exceptional wine come together. Here’s how it all began.

The Vineyard Begins – 1978

The property began as Scherzinger Vineyards in 1978, when the family removed a cherry orchard and planted Gewürztraminer, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir. A small shop followed, eventually leading to the creation of their own label.

The Name Change – 2004/2005

The winery was acquired in 2001 and renamed Dirty Laundry Vineyard in 2004, with a current ownership group taking over in 2006. It has since become one of the most well-known and storied wineries in the Okanagan.

The Winery Today

The vineyard’s playful approach is reflected in the names of its wines, such as “Hush” and “Madame’s Vines,” which add a layer of intrigue and fun to the tasting experience. The stunning patio offers a 180-degree panoramic view stretching from Lake Okanagan to the rolling mountains, and guests can watch the Kettle Valley Steam Railway engine chug past the patio and through the vineyards.

20th Anniversary – 2026

Dirty Laundry Winery is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary, marking a journey that transformed a 7-acre cherry orchard into a thriving vineyard, and is inviting guests to share memories on a dedicated page as part of a community-driven archive of the winery’s history.
