Here’s What You Need to Know When Booking Your Next Okanagan Wine Tour

    Aug 19, 2019
Okanagan wine tours are growing in popularity as this region continues to define itself as a premier area for wine tours in Canada. You can’t beat the natural beauty and distinctive wines that British Columbia has to offer.

And there are a few things we want you to know if you’ve made the sensible choice and booked an Okanagan Wine Tour at Dirty Laundry.

    1. Dress Casual (Unless Attending a Themed Event)

You deserve to be comfortable as you sip on our best wines. Most guests will wear shorts and jeans, a nice shirt, or something a little more business casual. Our Okanagan wine tours are accepting of everyone – unless you decide to wear socks and sandals.

Remember, comfort is the key here. You want to enjoy your day out in the vineyard.

    2. Plan Your Trip Home

We don’t need to tell you that drinking and driving is bad. Well, it is – and we encourage our guests to plan ahead.

Penticton is located around 10 minutes south of our winery. There are many wine tours available that will take you directly to us if you wish. You can get in touch with our team to learn about some of the best ones available.

And if you’re cunning enough to con a non-drinking friend to join, they can serve as your designated driver. Just be sure to buy them a nice lunch.

    3. Bring your appetite!

One of the best parts about our wine tours (beyond the wine, of course) is the food. The Red Iron grille offers a great selection of mouth-watering pizzas, coffee and espresso drinks, deli items, and beer. We also host lobster nights, so make sure to bring your appetite if you’re joining us.

Dirty Laundry loves supporting local businesses. Many of the items found in our deli come from local bakeries, meat shops, and producers.

If there’s one thing we can guarantee – you’re bound to find something you love at Dirty Laundry.

    4. Wine Tasting Etiquette

We don’t judge you based on the way you drink our wine. But if you want the fullest experience, there are a few things you need to know:
    1. You have to hold the glass by the stem, not the bowl. This gives you better control when swirling the wine, which allows oxygen to mix in with it and carry the aroma to your nose.
    2. Raise the glass to your nose and gently smell the wine. Try and figure out what fruit and spices are in it. This is often referred to as the “nose” of the wine.
    3. Take a sip. We think this is the best part. Think about how it tastes, what’s in it, and what you are experiencing.

    5. Have Fun

Rules are great, but your goal is to have fun – and we get that. Our Okanagan wine tours are
Designed with fun in mind. Whether you visit one of our thematic events or on a regular day, there’s no shortage of great wine at Dirty Laundry.

Make sure to check out our events calendar if you’re interested in attending one of our events.
