Tasting Notes:
The nose boasts of rose petal, honeysuckle and pineapple. On the palate you will find bright acidity with notes of tropical fruit, honeydew melon and candied mango, with a touch of sweetness on the finish.
Winemaker Notes:
We pick this Gewürztraminer in several pickings over the course of October, and all of the fruit comes from our Summerland Vineyards. The reason for this is to help balance the various levels of acidity throughout the vineyards. Half of the fruit is soaked on skins in cold temperatures and the pressed off into stainless steel where it undergoes spontaneous fermentation. They other half of the fruit was crushed, destemmed and pressed directly into the tank where it cold settled. Racked then inoculated in cold fermentation to preserve varietal characteristics and aromas. Carefully blended by the wine makers while keeping some residual sugar in the bottle to brighten the Gewürztraminer fruit.
Food Pairing Notes:
Pad Thai, homemade pumpkin gnocchi with a brown butter sage sauce, and even spicy chicken wings. Spicy dishes are a great match for this wine. Looking for a cheese pairing try a stilton, or aged gouda.
