Message from the President:

It’s been a whirlwind of activity throughout another eventful spring, summer, and fall at Dirty Laundry Vineyard. With our renovation complete, we welcomed our customers to a very different winery this season. Thanks to the imagination, and talents of our general manager Hermann Teichtmeister, our designer, and contractors, we managed to triple the size of our wine shop and patio, while still preserving the very special, quaint, Europe-like rural atmosphere, which Dirty Laundry has become known for.

It became apparent immediately upon completion of the renovation that the transformation was well received by the touring public, as we saw our visits this summer more than double at the winery.

With the acquisition of approximately 4 acres of land immediately adjacent to the winery site, we were able to more than triple the amount of parking area available, and now easily accommodate large bus tours, and RV’s; which now can enter and exit our parking areas with ease.

With the acquisition of the new property, we are now pleased to announce that the newly renovated ‘Bordello House’ is available for nightly rentals to patrons who are looking for the full vineyard/winery experience. For bookings in the 2012 year, we invite you to contact the wine shop at (250) 494 8815.

Starting in the 2012, our Special Events Salon, which can accommodate up to 40 people, will be available for special functions and gatherings year round.

Normally, by mid-November, our staff would be well finished the most gruelling days of the annual crush, having left behind the fruit of their labour to our Vintner to nurture and cajole it into the award-winning bounty that Dirty Laundry is consistently producing. Not this year! The annual dance with Mother Nature has been slow to gain momentum due to the late and wet spring and summer, resulting in somewhat of a marathon of vineyard activity.  With the majority of the berry growth and ripening occurring after August 1st of this year, our crop, and that of our growers, has remained on the vine well into November. With the delayed harvest, the end of the crush is more likely to be defined by the Christmas holiday in 2011. This is even more so given the significant production occurring at Dirty Laundry Vineyard this year, where we are moving to 14,000 case production, in order to satisfy the demand of our good customers who have been continuously increasing their supply requirements.

2011 also saw the kick-off of our new Bordello Club, where members will be guaranteed priority to all new releases. Interested members can secure membership at the Hush, Woo Woo, and Madam’s levels and reserve for themself 3, 6, or 12 cases annually of the very best that Dirty Laundry Vineyard has to offer.

Our product line continues to reach into new territory. In early spring, we brought to market our very first ice wine (“Hoar Frost”). In the late summer of this year, our wine maker Phil Soo sanctioned the release of our very first fortified wine (“A Girl In Every Port”).  Both have been flying off the shelf.

We realize that Dirty Laundry Vineyard has been very fortunate to become part of the wine industry in the Okanagan Valley, and to grow with the industry given the recessionary economics that presently burden the entire world, and have had a clear impact on the economy of Interior British Columbia. The wine industry is a light at the end of the tunnel. It holds great potential and promise for future employment, and industrial growth in the province of British Columbia.

We thank all of our patrons for their continued support, and look forward to seeing your smiling faces at Dirty Laundry Vineyard.
